I must say I rang out the old year and the brought in the new year in one of my favorite places Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC), with like minded Christians, my wonderful mom, and friends (that's the first I've ever done that). Just to bring you up to speed, I've been hanging with "The Honesty Crew" - composed of Malika Granville, Dr. Nadine Clermont, Bunmi Olutsunde, Patricia Browne (Malika's second BFF and sorority sister) and Nneka Fritz (another one of Malika's sorority sisters). By divine intervention Malika (who has been my church buddy since the age of 3), and Bunmi just happened to wind up at EBC just like me, and Nneka grew up in EBC. Pat started attending because of Malika and Nneka and now our scheduled date (with the exception of Nadine - we're working on her) is Sunday at 12 p.m. service. I must say, one of the best things about church is having a good friend to attend it with, and I just love that we are a group that has fun and plenty chilleries together but still worship, pray and love God together.
As much as I had such great things happen to me in 2009:
It was still a very morbid year. I mean...MJ.....that's Michael Joseph Jackson died on June 25, the same day as Farrah Fawcett and a week after Ed McMahon, not to mention countless others (both before and after). It was as if God was rounding up some Heavenly (and not so heavenly) entertainment. My favorite author - E. Lynn Harris even passed away of a heart attack!
So I'm looking forward - or rather "upward and onward" in 2010. It's a new day/month/year/decade and is the beginning of my 30's (wow!!!) I've had a talk with Jesus and set up some things that I have claimed in 2010 and although Satan has been truly truly testing me, I know that things will work out well!!
